Childhood lays the foundation for future success, with safe and supportive environments promoting healthier adult outcomes. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can lead to long-term social, behavioral, and health challenges. Preventing and addressing ACEs is vital, and requires family, community, and societal efforts. Recognized as a national outcome measure for the Title V Maternal and Child Health program, the Children’s Safety Network collaborates with agencies to create safer environments for youth. This fact sheet includes information on ACEs, recent data on their prevalence, and best practices from organizations like the CDC to prevent and mitigate their effects.
