The Child Safety Learning Collaborative supports Title V efforts through an unprecedented opportunity for Title V programs in states and jurisdictions to collaborate with the aim to advance evidence-based policies, programs, and practices at the state and local levels to reduce fatal and serious injuries among infants, children, and adolescents. The Learning Collaborative currently focuses on four topic areas: Bullying Prevention, Motor Vehicle Traffic Safety (includes child passenger safety and teen driver/passenger safety), Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) Prevention, and Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention and is adding Drowning Prevention beginning in Cohort 2. The Children’s Safety Network (CSN) is inviting Title V state and jurisdiction health departments to apply for Cohort 2 of the Child Safety Learning Collaborative (CSLC), launching in May 2025. The CSLC aims to reduce fatal and serious injuries among infants, children, and adolescents by providing participants access to a national peer network, expert-led trainings, coaching, and technical assistance. Participants will gain tools and resources, contribute to widely distributed materials, and track progress through an online workspace. Customizable training topics include data-driven decision-making, continuous quality improvement, and building partnerships with communities. Participants can choose up to two focus areas, from the priority injury topics, bullying prevention, drowning prevention, motor vehicle safety, SUID prevention, or suicide and self-harm prevention, with opportunities to expand focus in future cohorts.
Participation in the Child Safety Learning Collaborative (CSLC) does not provide additional funding, though approved project-related travel is reimbursed. Running from May 2025 to October 2026, the 18-month program supports states and jurisdictions in reducing child injuries through a practical approach to performance improvement. A minimum commitment of 2 hours per month includes topic calls, technical assistance webinars, and coaching. Each state team determines its membership and leadership to align with its goals. Senior leaders play a vital role in guiding and supporting teams, fostering change, and establishing feedback structures. Participants are encouraged to use reporting templates, CQI tools, and data dashboards to enhance their outcomes.
