Please join us on March 20, 2025, 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET. This STAW will be the fourth in a series of Workforce Development topics. Though we would like you to join us for the entire series, each STAW is a complete event. No registration required - use this link to join: go.edc.org/STAW
During this STAW, we will focus on innovative approaches to partnering with schools to offer child safety education. In this interactive webinar, we will use an example from fire and burn prevention education in Holliston, MA as a catalyst for how public health and emergency services can engage with students in the classroom while lessening the burden on teachers. Please come prepared to think through and discuss potential opportunities for your primary child safety topic or area of focus.
Presenters:
Michael Cassidy has not forgotten the importance of his early years as an educator. After being promoted to Chief of the Holliston Fire Department in 2000, he has used that position to consistently advocate for community risk reduction (CRR). Although privileged to present at numerous local, state and national conferences, he believes he is achieving his full potential when delivering lessons in the schools and at the senior center. An active member of the Massachusetts Public Fire and Life Safety Education Task Force for more than two decades, he helps author the S.A.F.E. and Senior SAFE Statement of Need which is shared with the legislators when they’re developing spending priorities for state government. He was named the 2024 Fire & Life Safety Educator of the Year at the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services' 29th Annual Fire & Life Safety Education Conference. When not on duty, he can often be found serving his community and region as a board member for several non-profits.
