Please join CSN on September 19, 2024, 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET for the next State Technical Assistance Webinar. This STAW will be the first in a series of Workforce Development topics. Though we would like you to join us for the entire series, each STAW is a complete event.
During the September STAW, we will focus on how to support your workforce to address child safety. While State/Jurisdiction Health Departments grapple with how to best address a myriad of child safety topics, workforce development is often focused on learning processes, methods, and developing partnerships. However, the emotional component of knowing that every data point we see is an infant, a child, an adolescent, can take a toll on the folks who are doing this important work. Additionally, many are called to public health from their lived experience with injury and/or loss of a loved one. Please come prepared to share and reflect on how you provide support to your workforce to address child safety.
Presenters:
Steve Fry (he/him) has been a Public Health Analyst in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Office of Recovery since October 2022 after 9 years in SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services. Before coming to SAMHSA, he worked in the Connecticut Department of Mental Health for Addiction Services for 23 years, culminating in his appointment to the Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Team. There he advanced peer support, oversaw the Division of Client Rights and Grievances and led the Division Education, Training and Workforce Development. His passion for this work is informed by his lived experience as a person in recovery from mental illness, in long term sobriety and living with physical disabilities. Mr. Fry has a Master of Science in Community Mental Health and is a Certified Patient Experience Professional.
Maria Katradis, Ph.D. (she/her) is a Senior Training and Technical Assistance Associate at the Children’s Safety Network. She is the topic lead for Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention and the Data Manager for the Child Safety Learning Collaborative. She manages and analyzes data, provides training and technical assistance, and presents on topics such as quality improvement and evidence-based and evidence informed strategies for child and adolescent injury and violence prevention. She utilizes both qualitative and quantitative research methods to help states develop a clearer picture of where they are in their quality improvement process.
