Thank you for joining our BP Topic Call on December 12th. Between my medical leave and the Learning Session in the fall, it has been while since I’ve had the opportunity to facilitate a call with this team, and it was great to be back in the All Teach/All Learn space with all of you!
You can find the slides from this session on this page. They include a good summary of the Harvesting the Change Survey, which will be emailed to you in mid-January. As I explained last week, this survey is a chance for us to compile data on how the Change Package is being used, which aspects of the CSLC have been most useful, and how we can improve in the upcoming cohort.
I hope you all found the review of the StopBullying.gov website to be useful and informative. It was amazing to have Jordan Tautges from HRSA on the call; as a member of the editorial board for this website, she was able to highlight updates and new resources, and also to answer questions from the group. Some of the newer features include:
- The “Get Help Now” page has been expanded to include key links and detailed information on how to respond to various problems/situations.
- Statistics have been updated throughout the website
- The page on Race, Ethnicity, National Origin & Religion has been updated
We also briefly discussed another website with useful bullying prevention resources: Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center.
All three states provided some updates on recent activities and progress:
- The GA team has developed a fact sheet on Teen Dating Violence and Bullying Prevention, which will be distributed to schools and youth-serving organizations as soon as it is approved at the state level.
- The KY team is expanding their work with regional health districts to promote the use of bullying prevention curriculum and materials.
- In MA, they are finalizing an infographic on bullying, and will be training interns to present the infographic to young people.
We also acknowledge the shared risk and protective factors that connect our BP work with other prevention efforts and help us to build partnerships.
Next steps:
- Please complete the Harvesting Survey when you receive it (one person per state team).
- The date of the upcoming STAW (State Technical Assistance Webinar) has been moved to Thursday, January 23rd, at 2pm ET.
- Our next BP Topic Call is scheduled for February 13th at 1pm. See you all then!
