1st Date: January 17, 2017, 1-2pm ET

Join ASTHO and CDC for the first webinar in a two part series to learn more about CDC's Essentials for Childhood framework and to hear from Boulder County Department of Public Health  about an exciting initiative surrounding family-friendly policies.  The first webinar date is January 17, 2017; the second date is still being set, but will occur soon after.  Notification is forthcoming.

This webinar will highlight health in all workplace policies and provide guidance on developing and sustaining partnerships to help advance priorities.  ASTHO developed a policy guide to supplement CDC's Essentials for Childhood framework, focusing on strategies to increase economic support for working families, expand access to quality childcare and education, and promote flexible, family-friendly workplace policies. This resource presents an overview of the health department's role in informing policy and lays out several options for states and other partners to incorporate in cross-cutting policy efforts to promote safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for children and to ensure a foundation for health into the next generation.

During this webinar CDC will present on the Essentials for Childhood framework and how states are implementing strategies from the framework.  Then, Colorado will highlight a policy success story, and discuss the importance of collaboration and partnership when planning and executing initiatives.

Objectives:

  • Identify steps health departments can take to promote family-friendly workplace policies.
  • Educate health agency leadership and partners about policy approaches to prevent risk factors for child abuse and neglect.
  • Increase awareness of CDC's Essentials for Childhood framework.
