The goal of this State Technical Assistance Webinar was that attendees would be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of an injury equity framework and be empowered to take action to promote equitable strategies in injury prevention to keep all kids safe. Attendees learned about an injury equity framework and how it can be used to address disparities in child safety outcomes, particularly for groups that have been marginalized and underserved. Presenters also shared experiences directing large-scale programs for building health equity.
Dawne Gardner and Dr. Sadiqa Kendi of Safe Kids Worldwide (SKW) introduced the injury equity framework as the conceptual foundation for the SKW Strategic Plan for FY24-FY26 and provided examples of work and tools driving SKW efforts to prioritize equity, identify gaps and scale data driven interventions, and create sustainable system changes. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration was addressed.
Rebecca Bishop, MSW from Education Development Center, shared her experience directing large-scale prevention and intervention programs focused on building health equity, as well as her expertise in developing and implementing evidence-based interventions and programming, providing high-quality training and technical assistance, and leading community-based initiatives aimed at promoting health equity.
